Integrys debuts new Automated Licence Plate Recognition at Blue Line show

Integrys recently demonstrated an Automated License Plate Recognition system (ALPR) specialized for police law enforcement vehicle use at the annual Blue Line show in Toronto, Canada. The demonstration included an equipped Dodge Charger with cameras, processing engine and specialized software. This setup automatically scans, detects and performs License Plate Recognition for mobile law enforcement vehicles in a fraction of the time required for the more standard manual check.

When a license plate is detected in the mobile video camera’s field of view, powerful adaptive optical character recognition (AOCR) software extracts the plate image, applies image enhancement filters and analyzes each individual character of the plate, regardless of the plate colors or backgrounds. “This solution enables police officers to detect stolen or suspect cars automatically while safely driving on the highway, street or parking lot.” said Wayne Mason, Integrys VP. The technology automatically triggers audio/visual alarms based on LPR “Hot-Lists” associated with stolen vehicles and other criminal activities via matching against municipal, provincial or federal databases. This license plate recognition system is compatible with Canadian provincial plates - including both reflective and not-reflective plates.
